North East Parade Station is a modern station

having two 300 ft. masts, good buildings and power plant.

The Bund Station is old and obsolete and is in an

unfavourable position as regards site and surroundings.

G.H.Q. is a military station of a very temporary

nature.

5.

I would suggest the following re-arrangements

of stations:-

(a) All transmitters should be centralised at the North

East Parade Station.

(b) All receiving plant should be concentrated in a new

station to be erected on a more suitable site.

6.

The distance that the new receiving station will

have to be separated from the North East Parade Station

will be governed by the type of transmitters retained in

use at North East Parade. If the existing Lorenz transmit-

ter and the Telefunken Quenched Gap set be retained in use

the distance may have to be 3 miles or more. On the other

hand if Short Wave transmission is adopted entirely (as I

would recommend) then one mile or less would be a suitable

distance. Regarding the site for the Central Receiving

Station, a site clear of hills and surrounding buildings,

especially large modern building containing a lot of steel

work, is desirable.

7. The power plant at North East Parade should be

modernised. If a public supply is available, it is

recommended that suitable motor generators should be used,

in conjunction with a storage battery to ensure absolute steadiness of supply, the existing Diesel engine and dynamo to be kept in reserve for use in case of failure of the

public supply. I would emphasize the necessity of voltage

regulation: this must be within a half of one per cent if

transmission
